Day 33

Oct 28th. Morning at Fairfield Amphitheatre.

  1. I remember us in Greece, Beth. Do you? We went right into the Parthenon, which is now roped off, I believe. That reminds me, we also climbed all over Stone Henge when we had that camping holiday with dad in about 1975. You sat on dad's lap to drive his Austin 1300. We hung a dishcloth from his aerial and it snapped, remember?

  2. these days, of course, Stone Henge is a look but don't touch area.

    But it doesn't always make sense. Here in Suffolk we have the ancient Saxon burial mound amnd when I take school trips there, I am not allowed to let the kids run around in case they disturb the integrity of the archaeologically significant site.

    Nobody mentions the fact that all through the 1930s and 1940s it was a tank proving ground!!!

  3. i do have memories of greece and the parthenon, but i think as a small child the stones on brean beach were probably just as exciting to me!!!
    i remember stone henge and 'driving' dad's car!Cath and i went there again with dad. there was no rock climbing but i did drive dad's car again ;-)
